However, because of the region's stunning fall foliage, the area still draws visitors. Once September hits, the summer rush that floods Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park will be gone, making it the perfect time to visit if you're hoping to avoid the crowds. And if you plan on going whale watching (the season runs from mid-April to September), bring your layers with you on the boat as the temperature is not only colder on the water but wind is more prevalent. Though temperatures during the day may be pleasant, it's wise to bring layers because nighttime dips down to the high to low 50s throughout the season. If you want to plan a summer trip that dodges the peak seasonal crowds, consider visiting in early June. June daytime highs rest in the low 70s, while July and August see highs in the high 70s. Prepare to rub elbows with plenty of other visitors and understand that due to demand, travel rates may be higher than other times of the year. As such, it should come as no surprise that this is the most popular time to visit. This is the only time of year when you'll get to experience Bar Harbor in consistent 70-degree weather. ![]()
